Brittany Lash is an LPC-S in Texas currently managing two inpatient psychiatric units. Her passions are providing care to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, reworking broken systems, community collaboration, and mental health policy. Her clinical specializations are crisis intervention, risk assessment, trauma work, and providing care for those who have lost loved ones to suicide.

    When I first met her, straight out of graduate school in my first job, I was terrified. My fear coming from a place of inadequacy and lack of knowledge. Sure, my school had prepared me for psychosis in the purest sense of the DSM; but it had not prepared me for the reality of it.

    When I purchased What Do You Do With A Problem? written by Kobi Youmada and illustrated by Mae Besom, I wasn’t sure of the power of the text in my hands. I had heard good things; that it would be great for my son when he got older. Also, it was on sale. What was there not to love about this purchase?!
