Recently, the House Appropriations Committee released the report for the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2024 (L-HHS), which includes $2.7 billion for SAMHSA mental health activities and programs.
It is anticipated that the House will consider the legislation during the week of November 13, however we will keep you posted on its progress. The filing deadline for amendments was November 3.
Substantial differences remain between the House and Senate’s proposed L-HHS bills. The Senate Committee on Appropriations approved the Senate’s L-HHS bill in July, but the bill has not yet been brought to the floor and federal government funding is set to expire on November 17.
We will continue to monitor and provide updates throughout the appropriations process. If you would like to become involved in ACA’s advocacy efforts, please contact the ACA Government Affairs and Public Policy Team at advocacy@counseling.org
