Recently, the American Counseling Association, along with members of the Medicare Mental Health Workforce Coalition, submitted comments on an initiative led by U.S. Reps. Michael Bennet and John Cornyn, which would modernize the delivery and financing systems for behavioral health and addiction care. The initiative is titled “A bold vision for America’s Mental Well-Being: Addressing the Medicare Mental Health Coverage Gap.”
ACA advocates for behavioral health reforms that encompass all age groups and believes that any successful strategy to address mental health care must include measures to ensure that older adults and people with disabilities receive the resources and services they need to be as healthy, independent and resilient as possible.
