ACA: American Counseling Association
ACA Foundation's 2010 Graduate Student Scholarship Competitions

Scholarship Grant Opportunities for Graduate Students

While graduate studies are a necessary option for many counselors, paying for those studies is not always the easiest thing to accomplish.  The ACA Foundation, however, has a way to cover some of those tuition costs if you’re good at expressing your opinions.

Two Essay Competitions for Counseling Graduate Students

This year counseling graduate students have a choice of two essay competitions to qualify for a scholarship grant.  The ACA Foundation Graduate Essay Competition is open to any counseling student currently taking one or more graduate courses at an accredited college or university.  The Ross Trust Graduate Student Essay Competition for Future School Counselors is also open to counseling graduate students, but only those working toward a career in school counseling at the elementary, middle or high school level.  Students may enter only one of the competitions, and entrants must be current ACA members.

Increased Scholarship Grants for Winners

This year both the amount and number of prize awards has increased.  Each competition offers a Grand Prize of:

  • $2,500 Scholarship Grant
  • Free Registration and Three Nights Hotel at the ACA 2010 Annual Conference
  • Publication of the essay submission in Counseling Today

In addition, each of the competition provides Four (4) Runner-Up Prizes of:

  • $500 Scholarship Grant
  • Free Registration for the ACA 2010 Annual Conference
  • Publication of the essay submission in Counseling Today
